Caramelized carrot from the BBQ, a delicious side dish that almost everyone likes and has its own unique taste explosion. Because of the sweet taste , these caramelized carrots are popular with young and old! However, this is a dish that can quickly burn at too hot BBQ temperatures, so be careful and keep a close eye on the temperature. Always use heat-resistant BBQ gloves because the melted syrup can become very hot. With these caramelized carrots you put a colorful and delicious side dish on the table!
Ingredients:
- 1 bunch fresh carrots
- 50 ml apple syrup
- 25 ml butter
- 2 sprigs of fresh mint
- ½ lemon squeezed
- ½ lemon zest (grated peel)
Supplies :
- Cast iron pan
- Heat shield
- Sieve
- Knife / cutting board
- BBQ Tongs
Method :
- Prepare the BBQ for indirect, and heat the BBQ to 160 °C.
- Cut the greens off the carrots and wash them well under cold water, using a brush if necessary.
- Heat the cast iron pan in the BBQ and melt the syrup and butter, add the juice and zest of the lemon and stir until smooth.
- Place the washed carrots in the cast iron pan and mix with the prepared syrup.
- Let the BBQ do its work for 30 minutes, tossing the carrots occasionally so that the syrup gets everywhere and it caramelizes nicely and evenly.
- Serve with fresh mint.
