The Kamado barbecue is a traditional Japanese cooking appliance made of ceramic and is ideal for trying out different cooking techniques and preparing delicious dishes. Kamado barbecues can reach extremely high temperatures, allowing you to prepare all kinds of food on them. The Kamado barbecue can also be used to smoke food for a deep, woody flavour.

Which Kamado sizes does Roostr support?
We support Kamado 44, 49, 57, 59, 59KJ, and XL as standard. This covers all common sizes from Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe, The Bastard, and Monolith. Unsure about your model? Send us the serial number or the external dimensions.

What is the difference between building in a kamado and a gas barbecue?
A kamado is supported by an adjustable inlay shelf with a fixation system for stability. A gas barbecue is usually installed as a separate module or as a built-in gas burner. The installation method depends on the type of appliance and will be determined with you in advance.
Can I put a different BBQ in the same outdoor kitchen later?
Yes, modularity is a core principle of Roostr. If you switch from a kamado to gas (or vice versa) in a few years, the existing setup can be converted. The inlay shelf is adaptable, and an extra module can be added if necessary.
How much workspace do I need next to my BBQ?
We recommend a minimum working width of 60–80 cm next to your BBQ for comfortable working. For those who do a lot of mise en place, 100–120 cm is pleasant. In the 3D configurator, you can immediately see if the workspace is sufficient for your cooking style.
Can a barbecue be placed under the patio cover?
Yes, provided there is sufficient ventilation and height. For Kamado grills and pizza ovens (which produce a lot of heat), we recommend a minimum clear height of 2.40 m and open sides or louvers. In the studio, we calculate this on a case-by-case basis.
What does a Roostr outdoor kitchen with BBQ integration cost?
The BBQ installation itself is usually free with the right inlay or frame. Costs are determined by the model, dimensions, countertop, and any additional modules such as a refrigerator or sink. On average, complete Roostr outdoor kitchens with a BBQ range between €8,000 and €15,000. Read more here.
